The Manager, Value Stream Leader (VSL) will provide leadership to drive step change productivity improvement and to drive the delivery of annual cost savings objectives across the overall supply chain network. Specifically, this leader will be responsible for creating a lean and efficient supply chain network by introducing industry proven Lean management tools and implementing a standard playbook for the organization. Ultimately, the Manager, Value Stream Leader will develop and deploy procedures focused on integrating Lean Six Sigma into our supply chain. The Manager, VSL will drive cost productivity improvement and waste elimination across the enterprise. Additionally, the Manager VSL, will support the achievement of the low cost and best in class position within the industry. The VSL will drive improvement across our Supply Chain network to meet a standard of operational excellence.
This improvement will include the application of proven tools for continuous improvement, establishing standard operating procedures, a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) playbook with standard practices and the attainment of the annual productivity goals. Additionally, this role will coach the plant and logistics Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Leads to much greater levels of capability, sophistication, and performance. Key focus areas for improvement will be cost savings identification through Value Stream Mapping (VSM), pipeline build, productivity delivery, waste identification, cost reduction, loss/downtime reduction and OEE attainment.

SUPPLY CHAIN DESCRIPTION
Products are manufactured and distributed by 68 company owned plants and over 400 warehouses/branches with an average of 5,000 routes per day covering three regions (North, South, West). Dean supply chain has an employee population totaling more than 15,000 associates for all personnel.
The Manager, Value Stream Leader will have 5 to 7 years of operational/manufacturing experience and at least two years of Manager or Supervisor level experience. Food industry experience is not mandatory but highly desired. A high energy, creative approach to problems will require an individual who is highly intelligent, analytical, financial, a quick study, and a team player with strong leadership skills. Current responsibility for leading a Lean methodologies, continuous improvement and operations excellence supporting a large plant network is not required, but highly desired.
Proven experience in applying sophisticated continuous improvement (lean six-sigma) is highly desirable but not a mandatory prerequisite for the job. Demonstrated experience in optimizing production efficiency and reducing manufacturing cost viewed as a plus. The individual must have experience in implementing such management practices or raising their level of utilization as opposed to simply operating an existing process. The individual will have had experience in a large company with a reputation for strict cost management.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, operations management, or a related field. A graduate-level degree in manufacturing, operations management, engineering is desirable but not required.
