Job Description:          


Has an extensive background in fleet asset maintenance and standard processes related maintenance repairs, vendor selection and compliance to national account programs and supplier agreements.  Must have the ability to lead multiple teams at various locations, access and analyze data, standardize processes, drive process improvement, hold employees and repair vendors accountable for quality repairs and develop budgets and achieve financial targets.  This job will require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills while having the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and exercise sound judgement.  Requires proficiency at solving complex maintenance/asset issues, while having a bias to get things done and deliver results.


Specifically, the responsibilities of the individual will include:


  • Lead fleet maintenance teams (managers, supervisors and hourly employees) at multiple locations, ensuring proper staffing (hiring), labor planning, coaching, training, performance and talent management.  Provide input into termination, compensation and promotion decisions
  • Own, optimize and care for all fleet assets ensuring proper maintenance and utilization practices are followed
  • Collaboratively execute technical training, ensuring technicians’ skill levels are in line with expectations
  • Ensure all direct reports understand, cascade and achieve the fleet maintenance goals and key metrics
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of reporting requirements, variance analysis, and forecasts
  • Participate in development of the division’s annual operating and capital plans and productivity initiatives
  • Ensure data integrity in the fleet management system and diagnostic tools are utilized effectively
  • Successful execution of the warranty process and maximizing warranty/policy recovery
  • Lead breakdown root cause analysis process and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions locally
  • Successful execution of parts inventory management, policies and procedures
  • Own Safety Culture, ensuring safe work strategies and tactics are employed
  • Ensure the cleanliness, security, safety and maintenance of the maintenance shops
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and documentation requirements (OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, HAZMAT, EPA, ANSI), as well as federal, state and local laws
  • Manage effectively vendor and 3rd party maintenance provider relationships
  • Additional duties as assigned or required


Job Requirements:


  • Candidates will possess any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the completion of an Associates’ Degree or 60 semester units or equivalent in automotive technology, and six years of increasingly responsible experience in fleet maintenance of over the road and refrigeration equipment; with at least 4 years’ experience in the supervision and management of fleet operations and vendor management.  A valid Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
  • Experience developing, improving processes and problem resolution at functional level
  • Demonstrable mathematics and analytical skills using data to drive decisions in a business environment
  • Financial budgeting, forecasting and action planning skills; proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize work and collaborate effectively with other internal and external teams
