Job Description & Requirements

The Senior Director Operations is accountable for directing a group of manufacturing plants to meet short- and long-range divisional objectives with optimum efficiency. He/she represents the plants as a cross-functional liaison to coordinate all phases of operations and provide optimum services. She/he also reviews operating results, evaluates progress at each plant, and controls expenses related to budgets and inventory capital.

  • Manages performance of Operations to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Contributes to the KPI target setting process for Supply Chain. 
  • Implements Continuous Improvement to generate improvement plans that feature both short and long-term improvements, with and without capital investment.
  • Drives key initiatives in the areas of Quality, Safety, Sustainability, Cost, and Service through Continuous Improvement Management Operating Systems.  
  • Manages group budget and expenses.  
  • Participates in strategy and tactics for labor relations (both union and non-union). 
  • Aligns with and supports other corporate staff functions in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term plans to meet business objectives.
  • Determines long- and short-range requirements of personnel, material and facilities to meet sales demands and optimal network optimization.
  • Drives consistency and standardization throughout Supply Chain.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling.
  • Has supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or related field preferred. A post graduate degree is also preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years’ progressive experience in operations, including a minimum of 4 years in a Plant Manager and/or Director-equivalent leadership role. Experience leading multi-site operations preferred.
  • Experience in both Union and Non-Union environments preferred.
  • Demonstrates a passion for learning and a willingness to build new skills.
  • Must be able to define, diagnose, and resolve problems. 
  • Ability to have an organization-wide perspective and understand how the business operates.  
  • Ability to understand the vision of the organization and translate it into specific plans and actions that achieve desired results.
  • Must be a strong executor who has the ability to assist with strategy development at all levels of the organization to drive business performance.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead people through change.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments, management levels within the company, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to successfully influence peers and senior leadership.
  • Ability to recruit, hire, develop, coach, and mentor talent for current and future needs.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities to simplify processes and create efficiencies.
