Position Summary

This role will be the finance lead working closely with the President, Ice Cream division and the Ice Cream divisional leadership team.  The person in this role will collaborate with the President on developing short and long-term strategy and executing against the aligned agenda.  The CFO will work closely with the Ice Cream team to develop full P&L analysis, create growth and productivity initiatives, evaluate projects, and establish standard processes and financial tools.  This role will own define, design, development, and deployment of Ice Cream KPIs and scorecard. This role will be responsible for coordinating and driving the monthly cadence and model/tool development. This will entail leading the quarterly forecasting, annual operating plan, and month end reporting cycles. It also includes the preparation of Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews for the Ice Cream Leadership Team.


Main Accountabilities

  • Works closely with the President, Ice Cream and broader leadership team to develop, implement and track the Ice Cream financial agenda.
  • Work hand in hand with the President Ice Cream to establish business and financial priorities, including owning planning, forecasting, and analysis of results
  • Key member of the Ice Cream leadership team responsible for developing commercial growth plan and strategy and business optimization. Tracks the execution of the initiative agenda.
  • Own planning and forecasting process, ensuring the Ice Cream team is in line with the DFA Dairy Brands process and timelines
  • Act as a change agent, in continuous improvement of business performance, annual planning and forecasting processes
  • Lead the development of materials for the Business Reviews with the commercial and corporate executive team as requested
  • Oversees the monthly business review process with the Ice Cream leadership teams and DFA Dairy Brands Executive Leadership Team, including the development of materials to support the monthly review
  • Performs variance analysis vs. prior years, budgets and plans; include accompanying written business analysis to identify areas of opportunity and make suggestions for improvement; develop and analyze performance metrics.
  • Ensures that our finance tools and analytics support a sound decision making process that leads to the right decisions being made at the field level, as well as at the leadership team level
  • Establishes analysis and reporting tool standards and best practices and deploy across the regions. Facilitates development and ongoing production of standard analytical tools
  • Works closely with the distribution, procurement, and operations teams, ensuring that they are in lock step with the overall finance cadence, and supporting all monthly FP&A work
  • Lead the Ice Cream finance team (operations and supply chain) to ensure proper support of the Ice Cream organization.
  • Lead business unit, customer, product and channel profitability analysis as needed
  • Coordinate with all optimization teams to ensure that decisions result in overall improvement of the Ice Cream P&L
  • Oversees the analysis of sales, volume, margin, costs and OI through mining data or supervising the work of his/her team. Direct reports to this position have the primary function to compile data, perform detailed analyses and produce reports that lead to clear and actionable recommendations
  • Conducts due diligence in the planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling responsibilities.
  • Lead and develop team members, ensures they are motivated and engaged
  • Has leadership responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing team members, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Collaborates and supports the activities of the Accounting organization
  • Collaborates and integrates common and standard processes, reports and tools with all DFA Dairy Brands business units (Fluid North and Fluid South).


Minimum Requirements and Scope:


  • Must possess 15+ years of experience, at least six years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or business or a quantitative/technical discipline is required. MBA highly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, superior analytical and problem solving capability
  • Proven track record of influencing senior management to successfully lead change
  • Strong and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self motivated, able to work independently focusing on key priorities while understanding the broader overall business activities and needs
  • Ability to think strategically and lead development of business vision and priorities
  • Expert in levers and interdependencies of all areas of the P&L
  • Strong grasp and ability to identify opportunities and drive improvement across the P&L – revenue growth and cost
  • Ability to select, guide, develop, and retain a team of employees
  • Ability to utilize financial modeling, critical reasoning, and process analysis
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
  • Knowledge of Excel, Hyperion Financial Management, Essbase, and IRI is highly desirable
  • Ability to function within a multi-system environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment is preferred
  • Business level hands on experience in the make, sell and deliver (DSD and Warehouse) activity is preferred
  • Must have the ability to travel and work for extended periods of time to meet deadlines for special projects
