    Job Description:


    The item master data analyst is responsible for the lifecycle of item / product master data to ensure product data alignment and accuracy within internal and external systems. This position will partner closely with cross-functional data owners to ensure product data is accurate from the time of creation to retirement. The item master data analyst will be the steward for all Dean Foods item data.


    • Manages item data quality and integrity across internal platforms, enterprise systems as well as within the GDSN customer item publication processes. Manages the item number, UPC and GTIN PIM assignment process for entire product hierarchy (each/pack/case/pallet).
    • Accurately completes, audits, syndicates, and confirms successful transmission of GTINs to customers through the GDSN.
    • Performs data quality analysis to ensure data meets established enterprise and global standards. Interprets trends and anomalies in data.
    • Communicate data quality findings and remediation plan to leadership by preparing polished presentations and identifying key takeaways
    • Collaborates with internal teams to develop / review data accuracy scorecards to ensure errors are identified and resolved quickly.
    • Utilizes best business practices and independent judgement for mass data updates when appropriate.
    • Ensures accurate and complete product data attributes are collected from key constituents for timely, accurate and complete entry to create internal item numbers, UPCs, and GTINs. Ensures UPC creation and GS1 syndication timelines adhere to business requirements.
    • Reviews and analyzes artwork for accuracy according to GTIN Allocation Rules and follows Artwork Review Process to correct inaccuracies.
    • Reviews, recommends and implements changes to improve process efficiencies, ensuring timely and professional communication to customers, management, and senior leadership.
    • Understands and applies new / existing GS1 data standards to item master data.
    • Interacts heavily with business and technical subject matter experts and advises project teams regarding the interpretation of data standards and GS1 rules as needed.
    • Coordinates the onboarding of new customers joining Dean Foods’ Data Pool for product data. This includes sourcing the data, determining data refresh schedules, and collaboration on customer generated data accuracy scorecards.
    • Advocates for consistency between the unique product identifiers (Dean Foods internal systems UPC, GTIN, etc.)
    • Owns enterprise master data business glossary for item data and terminology.
    • Understands overall business, customer, and consumer item data needs.
    • Executes ad hoc data analysis pertaining to item data.
    • Maintains a high level of competency around data quality tools.


    Minimum Requirements: 


    • College degree required.
    • 2 years master data or data management experiences required. (item master experience preferred)
    • General understanding of databases. Strong Microsoft Office: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Access
    • Strong/advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, charts, macros, if statements).
    • SQL experience is a plus.


    • High attention to detail when performing data entry and analysis.
    • Capable of communicating and collaborating with key business stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
    • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Ability to create and report on master data metrics using graphical representation (prior scorecard or visual management experience is a plus).
    • Ability to work as part of a team to drive results.
    • Process and service oriented.
    • Experience in developing key documentation, user guides, and other necessary training materials.
    • Experience in cross training team members and key stakeholders
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
